Met T today. 51, vet, served in Europe, been homeless 9 years.Turns out he had more and more trouble keeping jobs. After being homeless, was diagnosed with bipolar disease, but couldn’t get needed meds. Mostly slept in woods, occasionally stayed in shelters. Recently moved to Raleigh, hooked up with our excellent VA, getting help with bipolar issues and getting physical therapy for shoulder injury. Got a housing voucher, and is just moving into an apartment at last. Hoping to be employed in the next few months as things get stabilized. Pray for T. It takes heroic effort to climb out.
